You can use a little painters tape to keep it from sliding down or just stand there and hold it yourself for a minute. Cut the first miter then use that rail to mark the angled cut on the adjoining cap rail. If they are all cut using a standard length they might not fit the area properly. Lay the beadboard on top of the area of the cabinet and mark and use jig saw to cut off any extra length.
Once the adhesive is applied place the beadboard on the cabinet door and push down. Move the upper rail aside and hold the line marked lower rail in place atop the beadboard. Use clear silicone caulk to fill in any gaps that may appear between the beadboard and the cabinet. It grabs fast and holds strong.
Place one piece of beadboard on each piece per your measurements. Run a bead of wood glue down the center of all the vertical pieces of wood on the front of the cabinets. Be generous with the caulk and then press your beadboard onto it. Use a combination square to connect the two lines creating a diagonal line that represents the angle of the miter joint.
