Figure out a way to edge the existing sheetrock and backspash.
As of november 2011 a 4 foot by 8 foot sheet of 1 2 inch thick drywall sells for about 7 a sheet and a full sheet covers 32 square feet of wall space. It s highly recommended that drywall behind kitchen cabinets at least get a coat of primer. That extra 2 is really helpful. Tapering the sheetrock from 5 8 to 1 4 at the post over a space of 4 5 feet or whatever you need to make the backsplash work.

The cabinets would have to be shimmed on that section of wall. The issue with the leveling is understandable but that doesn t really apply for us because the lower half of the wall is drywall but the upper half is bare wood we re in an older house that actually has wood cladding behind the walls so we re leaving it bare on one wall of the kitchen. The drywall issue isn t the cause of your mouse problem. Place them in areas you find poop and up against the wall.
