If not you could always destroy a section of cabinets and remove piece by piece.
You may need to install bracing to support the top. Many times counter tops are glued to your base cabinets and are bolted together at the seams with pocket bolts. Once the final screw is free your cabinet will fall. Try to take these off carefully if you plan on re using them or donating them too.
Tape the screws to the hinges. When it is time to remove kitchen cabinets from the wall have at least one person hold them in place while you take out the screws and or nails. Measure the distance between the countertop and the bottom of the cabinet. Have your buddy hold the cabinet in place while you remove the final screw from the bottom of the cabinet.
Steps for removing cabinets and leaving countertops in place 1 unscrew all of the installation screws that are securing the cabinets to the walls. If the cabinets were installed before the flooring then you may not be able to remove them as a complete unit. Many of the steps are the same as the ones for the lower cabinets. If you are not reusing them and they are still in good shape consider donating them. This should be done after you have removed the lower cabinets so you have more room to work. If the cabinet is not falling it s still attached somewhere. If you have removed all of the side screws and top screws from the cabinet it should come off the wall easily.Assuming you have granite tops and factory built as opposed to custom cabinets cabinets you may be able to loosen a section of cabinets and work them out from under the top and slide a new section in. These prevent the cabinet from crashing to the floor if your hand slips while you remove it. Unscrew all screws holding the cabinet to the walls floor or other cabinets. Then cut 4 pieces of lumber to that length and place 1 under each corner of the cabinet you re removing.
You may also have to remove the baseboard. Unscrew the cabinet unit from the soffit and remove the cabinets. Once this is done take the lower cabinets out of the kitchen.
