Definately not but rooms that flow together should match. I would live with the kitchen for awhile and i think you ll find that the trim works fine. It also would add a nice contrast so the trim stands out. I believe the trim in the kitchen should match the trim in the rest of the house since i believe the permanent features of the house trims interior doors etc should have continuity.
