Small worms on kitchen counters and in the corners of cabinets are the larval form of indian meal moths and houseflies which are common kitchen pests.
These cabinet beetles are the commonest pantry pests of this group. It is the only place they appear in the house. Also look for silk webbing left behind by moth larvae. At their larva stages they are more dangerous.
